The Charlotte Symphony and Oratorio Singers of Charlotte perform their annual production of Messiah. The oratorio is the composer's most famous, and celebrates the life of Christ, from “For Unto Us a Child is Born” to the “Hallelujah Chorus.”
One of the most popular works in the Western choral literature, the libretto by Charles Jennens is drawn entirely from the King James and Great Bibles. Handel composed Messiah in London during the summer of 1741, and the oratorio premiered in Dublin, Ireland on April 13, 1742,
